About Bhakti Marga

Bhakti Marga is a global spiritual organization rooted in a simple and universal idea: love, devotion, and inner connection can be lived in everyday life. The words Bhakti Marga come from Sanskrit and mean “the path of love and devotion.” In practice, this path is not about belief or identity, but about cultivating a deeper relationship with oneself, with others, and with life itself.

Bhakti Marga was founded in 2005 by Paramahamsa Vishwananda with the intention of making ancient spiritual wisdom accessible, practical, and relevant in the modern world. From the beginning, the focus has been on experience rather than doctrine, offering people real tools to grow spiritually while remaining fully engaged in daily life.

Since its founding, Bhakti Marga has grown organically into a worldwide community, with temples, ashrams, and centers in over 80 countries. People from many cultures, backgrounds, and life paths are drawn to Bhakti Marga not because they are asked to become something new, but because they are supported in becoming more fully themselves. In the United States, the main Bhakti Marga ashram is located in Elmira, New York, where people come for retreat, immersion, and deeper spiritual study.

Bhakti Marga NYC is a new expression of this global community. It is the first center of its kind in the world, and the first permanent Bhakti Marga space in New York City. Designed for modern urban life, this center brings the heart of Bhakti Marga into a setting where people can engage with spirituality and wellness as part of daily life.

The Path

Its mission is to help people reconnect with love, compassion, and meaning through practices that support the body, mind, and heart. Bhakti Marga offers a unique spiritual path, blending the heart-centered traditions of Bhakti with the ancient lineage of Kriya Yoga. This path is supported by four foundational "arms"—Yoga & Meditation, Knowledge, Rituals, and Devotional Arts—all designed to open the heart and cultivate a deep connection with the Divine residing within everything.

Yoga & Meditation

Our core practice is Atma Kriya Yoga, a powerful set of techniques given by Paramahamsa Vishwananda through the grace of Mahavatar Babaji to awaken the soul's relationship with the divine.

Knowledge

We immerse ourselves in the wisdom of ancient Vedic scriptures, such as the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, and study the lives of great Bhakti saints to deepen our understanding of the spiritual journey.

Rituals

Through sacred ceremonies like Puja, Abhishekam, and Yajnas, we invite Divine grace into our lives and foster a personal, intimate relationship with the supreme consciousness.
